  1. We reported yesterday that Microsoft’s Windows Subsystem for Android app was spotted in the Microsoft Store. The most interesting feature of the listing was that the app supported both Windows 11 (aka Windows 10 version 22000.0) and the Xbox One, something Microsoft never mentioned before. Given the emphasis Microsoft placed on WSA bringing Android games to Windows 11, this would not have been a complete surprise, but it appears this will in fact not be the case. The WC received a statement from Microsoft saying “there are “no plans” to bring the Windows 11 Android subsystem to Xbox at the moment.” Microsoft did leave the door open for future support, but this will certainly not be in place when Microsoft finally delivers WSA to Windows 11. That work has been delayed and we recently heard that Microsoft will be shipping Windows 11 without support for Android apps, as the company was still working on the technology. Microsoft will be offering Android apps from the Amazon Store, but while the technology has potential, the Windows Subsystem for Android will not support every app in the Store, and it remains to be seen how impactful the feature will be, especially since WSA will require 16 GB of RAM is recommended for good performance, which is still not the baseline for most consumer laptops. The Windows Subsystem for Android app can be seen in the Store here. Windows Subsystem for Android™ Developer: ‪Microsoft Corp.‬ Price: Kostenlos Microsoft’s Windows Subsystem for Android may not have Xbox One support after all
  2. Xbox Live goes down on day of Titanfall release? Error 0x8004804E prevents users from logging in. Multiple Xbox One users have reported problems while attempting to sign in to their Xbox Live profile, just hours after the North American launch of the console's most anticipated title Titanfall. Attempting to log in causes some users to see error code 0x8004804E and an error message that reads: "There was a problem. We could not sign you in. Try again in a few minutes, or check your account by signing in to account.live.com." The error prevents those affected from signing in to their Xbox Live gamertag, stopping them from heading online, playing multiplayer games and accessing their save files. The problem first seemed to appear at around 7:30pm this evening and is not believed to affect Xbox 360. Microsoft's Xbox Live support page states that there is currently a problem with players "joining other Xbox Live members in online games", but doesn't specifically acknowledge the sign-in error. "Hi Xbox members, are you running into issues matchmaking in Titanfall or Forza 5?" reads the update. "We'll take it from here. Our team is currently working to get to the bottom of this. We appreciate your patience while we investigate. We'll update you again in 30 minutes." It isn't clear how many people have been affected by the issue or when it will be resolved. UPDATE - 21:01: Microsoft has formally acknowledged the problem, stating that it is "hard at work investigating this issue right now. Thanks for being patient while we work." UPDATE 2 - 22:32: Xbox Support says that it can't provide an estimate for when normal service will resume, but that it is trying to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Apparently the problem "doesn't have anything to do with Titanfall", either. Source: twitter.com, reddit.com, xbox.com, Xbox One source Bloody annoying!!!!!!!! its been down for around 2 hour's!
  3. Looks like Microsoft is going to cover the DirectX 12 implementation on Xbox One at GDC. That my friends, is huge. If you thought the Xbox One games were going to look good before, it looks like we aint seen nothing yet. This sort of addition to Xbox One is a game changer. http://blogs.msdn.co...x?wa=wsignin1.0 Hell yeah!!!!
  4. New info on the next Xbox One system update has surfaced, care of the Xbox Live users lucky enough to get preview access. To start with the itty-bitty stuff, the patch adds a couple of new icons to the dashboard - the first indicates when you can join a friend's game, the second indicates that a game has been updated recently, perhaps in your absence. Another previewer has details of the April update's sound and chat mixers, which allow you to adjust the balance of audio between main and snapped apps or games. You can also set the console to reduce the volume of other sounds by 80% or 50% while using Kinect to chat. Here's a little gallery of off-screen snaps. Finally, one previewer has posted a Game DVR clip that seemingly demonstrates how Microsoft has fine-tuned the Xbox One's video compression algorithms. I can't confirm the video's authenticity. Can you see a difference? Read the official need-to-know on the update here. Microsoft has yet to announce a release date. Source

These features will become available to members getting the early previews in the coming days and weeks and will be available to the full Xbox Live community in April: Game and app saves and updates. A game save progress bar will show you the status of your game saves. You will also be able to easily tell what games and apps are being updated or have been updated recently.Friends improvements. This actually was one of the most frequently requested features from the first preview wave and we made it a priority to include it in the April update. Also, friends who are in multiplayer will be identified in the friends list. We’ll also add the ability to view friends’ most popular apps.Blu-ray 50 Hz video output support for content recorded at 50 Hz will resolve video playback issues some Xbox Live members in Europe are experiencing.Kinect voice and motion improvements will continue to fine tune the quality and reliability of Xbox One commands.Improved GameDVR video quality through compression algorithm improvements.Updates to Xbox One device management to address issues controlling TVs, set top boxes, and receivers that our customers have reported.New audio settings to tune how much volume is lowered when Kinect is used in communications. We’re also extending invitations to more Xbox Live members in our current Xbox One markets. 9. "It's time to ensure even more fans around the world can enjoy Xbox One." The Xbox One will finally become available in Belgium, Japan, India and 23 other regions in September 2014, Microsoft has announced. Better late than never... The console was originally slated to launch in 21 markets last November, but Microsoft cut its roll-out down to just 13 markets, including the UK, USA and Australia. Studios boss Phil Spencer observed this January that "there were things around the voice models and other things we needed to make sure were right in order to really build a box that felt native to the markets we were shipping in. "It never feels good to stand on stage and talk about 21 markets and ship in 13," he added. "But it's a journey, and it's not won or lost the day after launch. It will be something that plays out, so making sure the quality of each market when we ship is the important part." The September roll-out obviously confirms our predictions that Microsoft would wait till the holiday season - i.e. when consumer demand is at peak - before launching in other markets; it's possible that the manufacturer can achieve the required volume in advance of that date. "We'll have much more to share at a local level towards the end of April, so stay tuned," notes a News Wire post. Here's the full list of new territories: Xbox One September 2014 release marketsArgentina Belgium Chile Colombia Czech Republic Denmark Finland Greece Hungary India Israel Japan Korea Netherlands Norway Poland Portugal Russia Saudi Arabia Singapore Slovakia South Africa Sweden Switzerland Turkey UAE Source
  10. Microsoft has confirmed more indie games to be released for Xbox One under the ID@Xbox label. There are 25 new games from nine countries around the world: some you know about, such as Nutjitsu and Roundabout, while many more are brand new. We've dug up trailers for most of them - have a look. "Since we first announced the program in August, we've been working closely with developers to bring a diverse array of independent games to Xbox One," ID@Xbox games director Chris Charla told the Xbox News Wire. "Our goal is to make the process as easy as possible so developers can focus on what matters most: creating the games you're beginning to see today!" Which are the most promising, do you think? The first ID@Xbox games will release this month ID@Xbox at GDC Video Trailer's can be found at source link Source

  12. Microsoft has unveiled the next generation of its DirectX graphics software at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, as promised. During the event, Turn 10 software architect Chris Tector screened a video of a limited port of Forza Motorsport 5, which has been converted to showcase DirectX12's capabilities. The new tech is "the most significant leap for Windows game graphics in years", apparently, and developers will be able to deploy it on all Microsoft-supported platforms, including the Xbox One. Specifically, the "benefits of Direct3D 12 will extend to Xbox One" - Direct3D being an application designed to run 3D graphics in a high performance environment, such as a real-time videogame. The DirectX12 demo of Forza 5 was run on a PC equipped with a NVIDIA graphics card. This obviously invites the assumption that Microsoft will at some point release a full PC version of Forza 5, but keep your imagination in check - there's been no formal announcement to this effect. There's no launch date for the new version of DirectX just yet, either, though Microsoft suggests that "holiday 2015" games will take advantage of it, following a limited access preview this year. Click through to this PC Perspective liveblog for a better-informed summary of the presentation, including pictures of slides. Be warned - it's pretty jargon-rich in there. We'll do our best to bring you a layman-friendly breakdown in the next week or so. Thanks to CVG and Devin Connors for their insights. source
  13. Xbox One February update is now starting to roll out As I noted in my blog post about the December system update, we’ve changed the way these work on Xbox One to reduce the impact on our customers. For the vast majority of Xbox One owners who use “Instant On” (the low power state that allows you to instantly power up your console by saying “Xbox On”), the console automatically checks for updates when customers turn it off. This means now that we’ve made the February update available, the next time you turn your console off it will take the update during off-peak hours in your local time. All that to say, never fear you’ll see it sometime over the weekend. As a reminder, here are some of the features you’ll see in this update: The ability to see and manage your storage space. With this update, you will find it easy to find how much space your content takes up and better manage your content. You can also control your install lineup and more easily manage your download queue. We’ve separated My Games and My Apps into separate lists, so you can easily create separate queues for both. Now you can pick the order in which you want your content to load and we’ve added a boot progress indicator so you can better track updates while they load. The battery power indicator is back! You can see it right on the home screen, so you can easily track how much battery life is left on your controller. And, you will be able to use your USB keyboard with your Xbox One.Thanks! Tip: Once you get the update, you can press the Xbox button to see the battery indicator on screen in the lower right next to the clock. Xbox One By Larry Hryb, Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson permalink: http://majornelson.com/2014/02/14/xbox-one-february-update-is-now-starting-to-roll-out/ UPDATE INCLUDES -> CHECK HERE My ladder I had to climb edit tech news or tech talk - haha dunno which one this is meant to be in :P
  14. Adds swappable backgrounds, colours schemes, see-through tiles and more ave you got time in your life for some thumping rock music and a range of charming transparency effects? Then gaze in awe and consternation at this "Ultimate Xbox One UI" video mock-up from PrimeGhost Gaming. Knocked together using Adobe Flash, it's a bit rough and ready in places, but the idea of being able to switch in different backgrounds care of a sidebar seems very worthwhile. The video appears to have impressed Microsoft PR man Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb. More to follow? There continues to be upset about the discrepancy between Xbox One and Xbox 360's user interface and dashboard functionality. Nelson has claimed that it's unrealistic to expect feature parity between an eight year old console and a machine with completely different processing architecture that's only been on sale for months - according to he, Microsoft "can't just plop Xbox 360 features into the code base of Xbox One". 15. External Storage, Real Names and More Coming with Xbox One System Update in June With the next system update coming in June, we’re thrilled to announce two of your most-requested features will be here soon: external storage support and real names for identifying your friends. Since our launch of Xbox One last year, we’ve been hard at work to continue making Xbox One the best destination for all your gaming and entertainment experiences. Because of the way we’ve designed the Xbox One platform, we’ve been able to continually improve the product for you with a more regular cadence of system and app updates. Your feedback for what you want most has been our guiding light for these updates, and will continue to be as we work to bring the fan-favorite features you want most. Real names and external storage support are just the beginning for June. With this update, Xbox Live is being improved in a number of ways as we announced last week. You will also be able to take advantage of great new SmartGlass features, including OneGuide and Universal Remote Control, select an account for automatic sign-in, and for Xbox One owners in Canada and Europe, get access to OneGuide and more TV, SmartGlass and voice features. Easily Increase Games Capacity with External Storage Support It couldn’t be easier to increase your storage capacity of games and apps with the external storage support features we’re bringing in June. Your Xbox One system will soon support up to two external hard drives at once. Simply plug in your 256 GB or larger USB 3.0 external hard drive and once formatted, copy and move games, apps and game add-ons to increase your storage capacity at home. This is also a great way to take your content to a friend’s house and get straight into a game directly from an external drive. You’ll need to sign in to Xbox Live if you’ve purchased your content digitally or insert a disc to verify your game ownership when you take your content on the road. The great benefit here is there’s no need to wait to re-download your game and all the DLC. With external storage support in June, you can also choose to copy full games and all of the associated content in one easy step. Real Names Makes it Easier to Identify Friends With Xbox One you can have 1,000 friends and infinite followers, but as these lists grow it can become increasingly more difficult to remember the people you know by their gamertag alone. Now with real names feature you can recognize people on your friends list and more easily discover people you already know who are on Xbox Live. Most importantly, we heard your feedback that to make this most useful you need full control. You’ll be able to share with all your friends, a subset of your choosing, friends of friends or none at all. The choice is yours. Also, your name doesn’t show up in games, and you can change your settings any time from your profile and when adding new friends. SmartGlass Provides Access to full OneGuide and Universal Remote Control, Pin Reordering and More We’ve made a ton of changes to your SmartGlass app for Xbox One. After getting great feedback from our SmartGlass beta, we’re thrilled to be bringing the entire OneGuide experience and Universal Remote Control to SmartGlass. Now in supported markets you can view all of your TV listings on your SmartGlass device and set and view your favorite channels and app channels on your smart phone, tablet or PC. With the Universal Remote Control, you can also easily switch channels, set new recordings and select and control recorded content from your DVR. Another great companion feature now in SmartGlass is pin reordering. With the touch of your finger you can easily organize your pins in categories or favorites based on your preferences and have those changes refresh to your console. Other improvements to SmartGlass will help you stay current on what you and your friends are up to, even when you’re away from your console. We’re bringing hero stats and activity feed front and center, and adding more ways for you to compare achievements via SmartGlass whether you’re on a friend’s profile or viewing a game from the activity feed. Just like on the console, you can choose to get notifications on your smart phone, PC or tablet when a favorite friend signs into their console or starts broadcasting a game. For many devices, you can even choose to start watching the broadcast wherever you are. Expanded TV and OneGuide Soon Available in More Markets The TV and OneGuide features we began sharing with select Xbox Live members in April will be available in June to everyone in Canada, UK, , , Spain and Italy. The update will bring OneGuide, alongside Favorites and App Channels, for people in these markets who have their TV connected to Xbox One via HDMI-in. Additional features in these markets include Kinect voice commands for controlling your set-top box and other AV equipment. We’ve also updated TV and OneGuide settings to provide better power management and control of your devices and improved compatibility with more devices. New Gold Membership Benefits, Access to Apps for All and More With this update, you’ll find a new hub in Xbox One for exploring all of the great benefits available to Xbox Live Gold members, including Games with Gold and Deals with Gold. Also, with the Xbox Live Gold changes announced last week, shortly after the Xbox One system update becomes available in June all Xbox Live members will be able to access popular gaming and entertainment apps without a Gold membership. Finally, we’ve made it possible for you to choose an account for automatic sign-in on your Xbox One – another much-requested feature from fans like you. Coming soon, these features will be available to members previewing Xbox One system updates as they help us work through final improvements. This system update will become available to the full Xbox One community in June. We look forward to hearing what you think and keep the feedback coming. source

  17. In an official blog post two weeks ago, Microsoft revealed that the Xbox One will get the new Halo Spartan Assault game via digital download on December 24th. The Xbox 360 will subsequently receive the same game in January of next year. Well, Microsoft has decided to roll out the game a little bit early as the game is now available for digital download for those of you on Xbox One. "Halo: Spartan Assault is a fast paced top-down shooter set during the timeline between “Halo 3” and “Halo 4,” progress your Spartan career as you engage in over 30 exciting Campaign missions using many of favorite Halo weapons, vehicles and armor abilities. Team-up on Xbox Live and fight with a friend against waves of the nightmarish Flood in the all-new online co-op multiplayer mode," the game description reads. You can head over to the Xbox Game Store to snag Halo Spartan Assault. The game runs for $14.99, but if you already purchased the game for Windows 8 or Windows Phone 8 before December 15th, you can snag the Xbox One version at a special discounted price of $4.99. The game comes in at 2.53 GB in size. Xbox 360 owners who have been itching to play this game will have to wait a bit longer, as Microsoft confirmed that this game wont arrive until 2014. Source

  19. New Elder Scrolls Online video makes us dream of Skyrim multiplayer Few games have trodden such a rocky road to release as The Elder Scrolls Online, but the latest trailer does, at least, look rather enticing. It's the tale of a valiant band of developers - that's lead gameplay designer Nick Konkle, game director Paul Sage and dungeon lead Dan Crenshaw - who must valiantly strive to overcome evil in all its forms. Oh, and justify a monthly fee on top of your Xbox Gold subscription. As far as I'm concerned, they do a reasonable job. There's refreshingly little of the "set auto-attack, put kettle on"-style play that characterizes older breeds of MMO, and the environments look sumptuous. Your mileage may vary. Any observations to share? The Elder Scrolls Online launches for Xbox One and PS4 in June 2014. You can read more about the project's risks, rewards and compromises in our latest Elder Scrolls Online interview, also starring Bethesda PR boss Pete Hines. Source subscription? no thanks....

PS a lot of people around the internet are screaming at the xbox ones wifi - I'm new to the xbox one all other games work fine but ghosts/forza 5 gave me an headache.
