  1. Microsoft, this past week, announced that Windows 11 24H2 is now ready to roll out to everyone and that it can be downloaded by all. This is despite widespread performance complaints, potential data loss worries, and bugs. Earlier today, we reported on a script enforcement bug on Windows' latest feature update that has been broken for months. Thankfully, Microsoft finally has a fix. Speaking of fixes, the company has now issued a Group Policy to address another major bug related to Windows 11 24H2 upgrade. While Microsoft does place safeguard holds from time to time to prevent feature updates (the most recent one was placed last month), this was a bug that prevented 22H2 and 23H2 systems from installing 24H2 as it would end up with a 0x80240069 error code. The problem happened on WSUS (Windows Server Update Services) managed PCs. The Group Policy that has been released is essentially a known issue rollback (KIR) as Microsoft says it is still investigating the root of the bug. The company writes: You can find the issue entry here on Microsoft's official Windows Health Dashboard website. Source Hope you enjoyed this news post. 2. Windows 11 version 24H2 is now available to all users with supported hardware. Despite the now-broad rollout, the operating system has a big list of known issues and upgrade blocks that keep certain users from updating due to compatibility issues. Luckily, Microsoft is busy fixing those issues, and one of the recent upgrade blocks has finally been lifted. Microsoft has updated the official Windows Health Dashboard documentation to notify users that the block preventing upgrades to Windows 11 version 24H2 due to issues with certain Ubisoft games has been fully removed (it was partially lifted in early December 2024). In November 2024, the company confirmed problems with games like Star Wars Outlaws, Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, and more. Microsoft said the games would hang during loading or gameplay or get stuck on a black screen. Ubisoft helped Microsoft resolve the bug by releasing updates to affected games, and with updates now fully out, the software giant is giving the green light to Windows 11 version 24H2. If you have Ubisoft games on your PC, you should update them to the latest version first before proceeding with Windows updates. Here are the details: Note that despite the removal of the upgrade block, your system might still take some time to find version 24H2 in Windows Update. If you want to speed things up, restart your system. You can also perform an in-place update using the Media Creation Tool app or a Windows 11 image. Note that some gaming-related upgrade blocks remain in place, such as issues with Auto HDR. Microsoft is still working on a fix for that, but there is an easy workaround for those who cannot wait. 3. Microsoft recently increased the scope of the Windows 11 version 24H2 rollout, making the operating system available to more users through Windows Update. However, Microsoft and other companies are still working on fixing plenty of known bugs and blocks. One of those blocks has just been partially lifted. In late November, Microsoft acknowledged gaming issues on systems with Windows 11 version 24H2 and certain Ubisoft games. Affected games would hang upon loading and get stuck on a black screen. Affected titles included Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Origins, Odyssey, Star Wars Outlaws, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Now, Microsoft has an update to the story. The company has updated the official documentation to notify users that Ubisoft released temporary hotfixes for Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Microsoft, in return, lifted the update block, allowing gamers with those games installed to move from previous Windows 11 versions or Windows 10 to Windows 11 version 24H2, assuming no other upgrade blocks are present. If you want to update to the latest Windows 11 version, make sure Star Wars Outlaws is updated to version 1.4.0 and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora to version 1.2. Keep in mind that although compatibility bugs are now fixed, there are still some performance issues: Also, Assassin's Creed games are still listed as incompatible, which means you cannot update to Windows 11 version 24H2 until Ubisoft updates them. Alternatively, you can uninstall those titles and move on to a newer Windows release. You can learn more about the bug in the official Windows Health Dashboard documentation via this link.
