Windows 11 servicing build 22616.100 (KB5014650) released for Dev and Beta Insiders
Karlston posted a news in Software News
Microsoft has released a servicing update today with a new Windows 11 build 22616.100 (KB5014650) to the Dev and Beta Channel insiders. The new build does not bring anything new to the table as it is a cumulative update with which the company is testing its servicing pipelines as it is often known to do. Microsoft has been frequently releasing servicing updates now as the Dev Channel builds are beaming with new and upcoming features. The full announcement says: We are starting to roll out Cumulative Update Build 22616.100 (KB5014650). This update does not include anything new and is designed to test our servicing pipeline for builds in the Dev and Beta Channels. Hence, all the bug fixes and improvements that were announced with the earlier released build 22616 to the Dev Channel as well as the Beta channel are carried over into this. The build has loads of new features as we are now moving into the next phase of Windows 11 in preparation for version 22H2. Interestingly, while there are no new changes made in this build, servicing test builds like these before have been known to break some features. For example, Windows 10 Build 21292.1010 caused issues for x64 emulation on ARM PCs. Microsoft has again reminded that there is a limited window in which Insiders can switch or change channels from the Dev channel over to Beta. That window will likely close as Windows 11 22H2 moves to the Release Preview channel sometime soon. If you are wondering how to do so, here's a handy guide we made that you can use. The original announcement and full changelog for this build can be found here. Windows 11 servicing build 22616.100 (KB5014650) released for Dev and Beta Insiders -
Windows 10 KB5003690 fixes issues affecting gamers since March
Karlston posted a news in Software News
Windows 10 KB5003690 fixes issues affecting gamers since March Microsoft has fixed performance issues impacting gamers running Windows 10 21H1 and 20H2 with the latest Windows 10 build released for Insiders in the Beta and Release Preview Channel. "We fixed an issue in a small subset of users that have lower than expected performance in games after installing KB5000842 or later," the Windows Insider Program Team said. The issues primarily impacted systems running games in full screen or borderless windowed modes on two or more displays. Problems experienced while playing games on affected systems include video stuttering, decreased frame rate, and flickering textures. Fixing gaming issues, take two With the release of the Windows 10 KB5000842 preview cumulative update at the end of March and the subsequent release of the KB5001330 update in April, Windows 10 users reported performance issues when playing games. While Microsoft released an emergency fix for customers running Windows 10 2004 and 20H2 on April 24, however, some users are still reporting that the issues were not addressed on their devices. The new KB5003690 update should fix the bugs on all affected systems running Windows 10 2004, 20H2, and 21H1. Since the fix was rolled out to affected users worldwide using Microsoft's Known Issue Rollback (KIR) feature and was pushed via Windows Update within a 24 hours timeframe, the new rollout will probably follow the same deployment strategy. What else is new in KB5003690 The Windows 10 21H1 Insider Preview Build 19043.1081 released for Windows Insiders in the Beta and Release Preview Channels also comes with a long list of fixes and improvements, including: We fixed an issue that causes blurry text on the news and interests button on the Windows taskbar for some display configurations. We fixed an issue that causes communication between apps to stop working after you enable the “AppMgmt_COM_SearchForCLSID” policy. We fixed a performance issue in the MultiByteToWideChar() function that occurs when it is used in a non-English locale. We fixed an issue that prevents sorting from working properly when using multiple versions of National Language Support (NLS) sorting. We fixed an issue in a small subset of users that have lower than expected performance in games after installing KB5000842 or later. We fixed an issue that causes the Japanese Input Method Editor (IME) to suddenly stop working while you are typing. We fixed an issue that causes WMIMigrationPlugin.dll to return an error when you attempt to migrate in offline mode. We fixed an issue with the Set-RuleOption PowerShell command that fails to provide the option for the Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC) policy to treat files signed with an expired certificate as unsigned. We fixed an issue that causes Windows to stop working when it uses AppLocker to validate a file that has multiple signatures. The error is 0x3B. We fixed an issue that might cause BitLocker to go into recovery mode after updating the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) firmware. This occurs when the “Interactive logon: Machine account lockout Threshold” policy is set and there were incorrect password attempts. We fixed an issue that causes Windows to generate many AppLocker or SmartLocker success events. We fixed an issue with authenticating for a domain controller when Credential Guard and Remote Credential Guard are enabled. We fixed an issue that prevents certain screen reader apps from running when Hypervisor-protected code integrity (HVCI) is enabled. We fixed an issue in which signing in using a PIN fails. The error message is “Something happened and your PIN isn’t available. Click to set up your PIN again.” We added Windows support for System Management Mode protections (firmware protection version 2.0) for certain processors that support Secure Launch. We fixed an issue that, in certain cases, takes you out of the exclusive virtual reality (VR) app and back to Windows Mixed Reality Home when you press the Windows button on the controller. With this update, when you press the Windows button, the Windows Start menu appears. When you close the Start menu, you will go back to the exclusive VR app. We improved the accuracy and efficiency of sensitive data analysis in the Microsoft 365 Endpoint data loss prevention (DLP) Classification Engine. We fixed an issue with the Internet Key Exchange (IKE) VPN service on remote access server (RAS) servers. Periodically, users cannot connect a VPN to the server over the IKE protocol. This issue might start several hours or days after restarting the server or restarting the IKEEXT service. Some users can connect while many others cannot connect because the service is in DoS Protection mode, which limits incoming connection attempts. We fixed an issue that causes Wi-Fi connections to fail because of an invalid Message Integrity Check (MIC) on a four-way handshake if Management Frame Protection (MFP) is enabled. We fixed an issue that might cause a VPN to fail after renewing a user auto-enrolled certificate. The error message is “There are no more files”. We fixed an issue with the Tunnel Extensible Authentication protocol (TEAP) that replaces the outer identity with “anonymous” even though identity privacy is not selected or is disabled. We fixed an issue that causes Remote Desktop sessions to stop responding while the User Datagram Protocol (UDP) is enabled. We added support for the USB Test and Measurement Class. We fixed an issue in Adamsync.exe that affects the syncing of large Active Directory subtrees. We fixed an error that occurs when the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) bind cache is full, and the LDAP client library receives a referral. We fixed a redirector stop error that is caused by a race condition that occurs when the system deletes binding objects when connections close. We fixed an issue that prevents users from setting or querying disk quotas on the C drive. We fixed an issue that causes 16-bit apps that run on NT Virtual DOS Machine (NTVDM) to stop working when you open them. We fixed an issue that causes fontdrvhost.exe to stop working when Compact Font Format version 2 (CFF2) fonts are installed. We fixed an issue that might prevent End User Defined Characters (EUDC) from printing correctly because of font fallback settings. We fixed an issue with Search box graphics on the Windows taskbar that occurs if you use the taskbar’s context menu to turn off News and interests. This graphics issue is especially visible when using dark mode. We fixed an issue that might cause signing in with your fingerprint to fail after the system starts up or resumes from sleep. We fixed an issue that might redirect you to the Microsoft Store page for Gaming Services when you try to install or start an Xbox Game Pass game on your Windows 10 device. Additionally, you receive error 0x80073D26 or 0x8007139F. For more information, see KB5004327. Windows 10 KB5003690 fixes issues affecting gamers since March -

Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22000.71 has been released; brings an Entertainment widget, Acrylic context menu and more Microsoft has released the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22000.71 to the Dev Channel. Here's what's new in the latest version of the operating system. Entertainment widget Build 22000.65 had the following widgets to choose from: Calendar, To Do, Tips, Sports, Traffic, Esports, Weather, Watchlist and Photos. There is a new widget available in Build 22000.71, the Entertainment widget. It highlights new and featured movies that are available in the Microsoft Store. Image courtesy: Microsoft The announcement article says that the Entertainment widget is only available in the following Countries it: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, , , Australia and Japan. Since the widget isn't available in my region, I couldn't test this feature. I tried switching to one of the supported regions from the Settings app, but that didn't give me an option to add the new widget. Acrylic Context Menu Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22000.71 also brings some aesthetic changes. The context menu in the OS, e.g. on the Desktop, is no longer a plain white color. The new menu design has an acrylic glass effect, which looks similar to the one used by the Widgets panel. I hope Microsoft gives the Start Menu the same treatment. New Split button The New button in the top left corner of File Explorer's command bar has a drop-down menu next to it, Microsoft calls this the Split button. Clicking it allows you to switch between New File, New Folder or New Item (document, shortcut, etc.). Taskbar Preview The Windows 11 Taskbar Preview panels (for open programs) have been updated, and follow the rounded edge design introduced by the OS, instead of the boxy look from before. Fixes Taskbar We fixed an issue where if you drag app icons on the Taskbar to rearrange them, it was making the apps launch or minimize when you released the icon. Using a long press with touch on an app icon in the Taskbar to open the jump list should now work. After right-clicking the Start icon in the Taskbar, clicking somewhere else should now dismiss the menu more reliably. Shift + Right-click on an app icon in the Taskbar will now bring up the window menu like it used to and not the jump list. We’ve addressed an issue that was making your mouse move slowly when hovering over the Taskbar previews. We’ve included the fix for an issue when using multiple Desktops where an app icon in the taskbar might give the appearance of multiple windows being open when that wasn’t the case on that Desktop. When using the Amharic IME you should no longer see an unexpected X next to the IME icon in the taskbar. The issue where if you click on the input indicator on the Taskbar and it would unexpectedly highlighted Quick Settings has been fixed. When you hover over Task View, the preview flyout for your Desktops will no longer pop back up after using Esc to dismiss them. We made a fix to address an issue where explorer.exe might crash after hovering over the Task View icon in the Taskbar. We fixed an issue where the selected date in the calendar flyout was out of sync with the date in the Taskbar. We made an update to address a scenario resulting in some Insiders not seeing the lunar calendar text in the calendar flyout when enabled in Settings. This flight addressed an issue that could unexpectedly make the Taskbar background transparent. Right-clicking the focus assist icon in the taskbar should now show a context menu. The issue from the previous flight where icons in the taskbar corner were getting crushed against the top of the Taskbar has been addressed. The tooltip for the location in use icon in the Taskbar should no longer appear blank sometimes. Settings We fixed an issue making Settings crash on launch periodically. Using the volume mixer sliders in Sound Settings should be more responsive now, as well as the page responsiveness as a whole. We fixed an issue resulting in Disk and Volumes Settings’ change size option being clipped. There was a non-functional verify link under Backup Settings – this has been fixed. The Power and Battery Settings page should no longer be reporting that battery saver is engaged in it’s not. The Power and Battery Settings page should also now not crash when launched from Quick Settings. We fixed a grammatical error in the Sign-in Settings text. The “I forgot my PIN” link was unexpectedly missing in Sign-in Settings when a PIN was set up and has now been returned. The issue where the Move option under Apps & Features in Settings wasn’t working reliably should be addressed in this build. We’ve mitigated a problem where some of the colors in Settings weren’t updating after switching between dark and light mode, leaving unreadable text. We’ve done some work to help improve the performance of Settings when switching between light and dark mode. We addressed an issue where some of the elements of the Themes page in Settings would end up crowded together when the window size was small. We resolved an issue where the Pen menu toggle under Taskbar Settings was not in sync with the actual state of the feature. Changes made to “Dismiss notification after this amount of time” in Accessibility Settings should now persist. Some of the icons you could enable in Taskbar Settings were erroneously labeled Windows Explorer even though that’s not what they were – this should now be fixed. The Connect text in Quick Settings has been updated to say Cast. File Explorer Clicking the command bar button twice should now close any dropdown that appeared. The new command bar should now appear when “Open folders in a separate process” is enabled under File Explorer Options > View. This build addresses an issue where right clicking a file and selecting Open With > Choose another app might launch the file in the default app rather than opening the Open With dialog. Fixed an issue the desktop and File Explorer context menu would stop launching. Search We fixed an issue where the option to verify your account in Search wasn’t working. Hovering over the Search icon on a secondary monitor will now show the flyout on the correct monitor. Search should now work if you open Start and start typing after having gone to the apps list and back. Widgets When using the Outlook client with a Microsoft account, Calendar, and To Do updates should sync faster down to the widgets. We addressed an issue where if you added multiple widgets quickly from the widgets settings, it could result in some of the widgets not being visible on the board. We fixed a bug where widgets could all become stuck in a loading state (blank squares in the window). The traffic widget should now follow the Windows mode (light or dark). The title of the sports widget should no longer mismatch with the content of the widget. Other This build addresses an issue where ALT + Tab was getting stuck open sometimes after you released the keys and had to be manually dismissed. We made a fix for an issue where Narrator focus wasn’t ending up on the emoji panel after using the keyboard shortcut to open it. Magnifier’s lens view has been updated so the lens now has rounded corners. We found an issue that was noticeably impacting Start launch reliability for some Insiders, and have addressed it with this flight. We’ve updated the “Most Used” text in the Start menu’s app list so it should no longer be getting clipped. Using the semantic zoom in Start’s app list should no longer result in the list being pushed down and to the right off the edge of the window. We fixed an issue where if you pressed WIN + Z you would need to press Tab before you could use the arrow key to navigate through the snap layouts. We addressed an issue where an acrylic area could get left on the screen after repeatedly snapping and unsnapping a window with touch. We’ve done some work to mitigate an unexpected flash when moving a snapped window with touch. We made a change to help window borders have a little more contrast when “Show accent color on title bars and windows borders” was turned off. Known Issues The release notes for the build mentions Microsoft is working on improving the Win + X menu, to add support for shortcuts like Win + X M to open the Device Manager. For the full list of known issues in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22000.71, head to the official announcement. Since the list is massive, I will mention a few important ones here. The Taskbar flickers when opening, closing or switching between input methods, I experienced this issue with File Explorer. The Reset this PC and Go back buttons in Settings > System > Recovery are not working. You'll have to access the Windows Recovery's Troubleshoot screen to reset the system. If you have turned off Focus Assist, and click the Date and Time button on the Taskbar, File Explorer will crash. To fix this, you need to enable Focus Assist. This disables all notification popups, but you can access them from the notification center. A bug is causing Explorer to crash in a loop, this only affects Turkish language users, when their laptop battery is at 100%. I also observed a couple of bugs that weren't mentioned on that page. The operating system still has issues drawing the context menu, where it appears partially. File Explorer is still a bit laggy, it takes a split-second longer than normal to open folders. The acrylic context menu, which was supposed to be in Explorer, doesn't work for me, so I still have the old design even after rebooting the virtual machine several times. However, the menu appears to work, albeit partially, after right-clicking several times. You may have noticed from my screenshots that the Toolbar has the acrylic effect. The previous version of the OS had the Build number 22000.65. The Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22000.71 is being delivered as a cumulative update with KB5004252. Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22000.71 has been released; brings an Entertainment widget, Acrylic context menu and more

Microsoft rolls out Windows 10 build 21390 in the Dev channel with new icons
mood posted a news in Software News
Microsoft rolls out Windows 10 build 21390 in the Dev channel with new icons After a few weeks of not meeting the usual Wednesday schedule for new Windows 10 builds, Microsoft seems to be back on track this week, with build 21390 heading out to Insiders today. It's a small jump from build 21387 released last week, but that makes sense considering it was rolled out on a Friday. Because there have been fewer internal builds since the last release, there are also even fewer changes than usual. Not that there's been a lot, as it appears that Microsoft is locking down feature additions for the next Windows 10 feature update, which is expected to arrive in the second half of the year. Builds have been coming from the co_release branch, and this week is no exception. There are only a couple of new things in this build: As part of our ongoing iconography improvements, Task Manager and MSI installers now have new Fluent icons. You can now set Windows Terminal Preview as your default terminal emulator on Windows – please see this blog post for details. This requires Windows Terminal Preview version 1.9 (or higher). The build does have a fair amount of fixes, though. Here's the full list: We fixed an issue causing the news and interests text on the taskbar to appear blurry on some resolutions and scaling factors. We fixed an issue resulting in certain punctuation not being displayed correctly when the display language was Chinese. We fixed a svchost.exe crash related to cdp.dll that some Insiders have been experiencing in recent builds. We fixed an issue impacting Start reliability in recent flights. We fixed an issue where when using dark mode, the text in the File Explorer search box would be black on a black background. Please note this only addresses this dark theme issue in File Explorer, we are continuing to investigate a second issue impacting dark theme when using Search in the taskbar. We fixed an issue in recent flights where a folder might not retain keyboard focus after being renamed in File Explorer. We fixed an issue resulting in Task Manager showing the incorrect icon for some processes. We fixed a second issue causing some devices to fail when updating to this build with error code 0xc1900101. If you continue to receive this error code when attempting to update, please file a new feedback item. There are still some known issues in this release, but the list has shrunken a bit more this time. Here's what you might still run into: The Windows Camera App currently does not respect the default brightness setting set via the new Camera Settings page. We’re investigating an issue where Search results are unexpectedly no longer following dark theme as of recent flights. [News and interests] We’re investigating an issue where the flyout may occasionally flash in the top left corner of your screen after clicking the button on your taskbar. Aside from what's new in the build, Microsoft also mentioned that in order to make feedback more relevant, feedback items that are over 15 months old will no longer be saved in the Feedback Hub app. Reports have been cropping up that Microsoft is planning a major design change for Windows 10, with hints of what it might look like showing up here and there. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also said yesterday that he's very excited for the future of Windows. However, only some changes have been made so far, and it's looking like we may need to wait until 2022 for the bulk of those UI changes to make their way to the general public. Insider builds later this year should have more news, though. Source: Microsoft rolls out Windows 10 build 21390 in the Dev channel with new icons -

Microsoft rolls out Windows 10 build 21387 to Dev Channel Insiders
mood posted a news in Software News
Microsoft rolls out Windows 10 build 21387 to Dev Channel Insiders It's been some time since Microsoft has released a new Windows 10 build on its typical Wednesday schedule, and if you were hoping this would be the week we go back to normal, it isn't. Microsoft has released another Friday build, this time being number 21387, and just like the past few releases, this one comes from the co_release branch, not rs_prerelease. While we still don't know whether these builds will be part of the next feature update for Windows 10, the fact that they're coming from a release branch does suggest we may be getting closer to a stable build. In fact, there hasn't been a whole lot that's new in each build, and that's the case this week, too. This build only comes with minor changes, such as temporarily disabling Eco mode in Task Manager: The Internet Explorer 11 desktop application is now retired as of this Insider Preview build. For additional details see https://aka.ms/IEmodeblog. We are turning off the “Eco mode” feature in Task Manager in order to refine the experience and address several issues thanks to Windows Insider feedback. The focus has been on fixes for the past few builds, and we have a few more with this week's build: We fixed an issue in the previous flight where during the upgrade and in the welcome screens displayed after first sign in, the text was unexpectedly using the Times New Roman font. We fixed an issue resulting in some Insiders seeing errors when trying to launch Notepad via the Run dialog. We fixed an issue for WSL users, preventing some Linux GUI apps from launching correctly via the shortcut that is automatically added to Start menu. We fixed an issue resulting in the reset or change PIN workflows not working. We fixed an issue where for some Insiders, night light was immediately turning off after being enabled. We fixed an issue in recent flights where you might unexpectedly get a “We can’t find an audio device” error when trying to play audio from a connected Bluetooth speaker. We fixed an issue where explorer.exe might crash after repeated use of the touchpad gesture for switching Virtual Desktops. We fixed two issues impacting the ability to print using USB printers. We fixed an issue resulting in the Windows Update page potentially becoming unresponsive after clicking Pause Updates. We fixed an issue causing some devices to fail with error code 0xc1900101. While this fix will resolve the problem on some devices, there is a second issue causing the same error code (noted below). We’re working on a fix for this issue as well. We fixed an issue where some devices were re-offered the .NET update after it is installed. After taking this build you should no longer be reoffered the .NET update. If you experience and issue getting Build 21387 because of a pending .NET update, you can work around the issue by pausing then un-pausing updates. We fixed an issue where some devices would crash with a DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION error when using OneDrive Personal Vault. We fixed a ctfmon.exe crash when using ATOK (a third-party IME) if reconversion was triggered in some win32 apps. Despite those fixes, there are still some known issues in this build. Microsoft did have a Bug Bash over the past week, so we may see more fixes being added in over time. Here's what you still need to be aware of: The Windows Camera App currently does not respect the default brightness setting set via the new Camera Settings page. We’re investigating an issue where elements of Search (including the search box in File Explorer) are no longer displaying correctly in dark theme. [News and interests] We’re investigating an issue where the flyout may occasionally flash in the top left corner of your screen after clicking the button on your taskbar. We’re working on a fix for a second issue causing some devices to fail when updating to this build with error code 0xc1900101. When the update fails, it will roll back to the previous build. If you are encountering this issue, we recommend pausing updates until we release a build with the fix. If you're not an Insider, or not receiving Insider builds right now, Microsoft rolled out the May 2021 Update earlier this week, though it doesn't include much that's new. It's still not known when we can expect the new features that have been showing up in the Dev channel will be available, but there should be another feature update to Windows 10 in the second half of the year. Windows 11 Beta build 22000.588 (KB5011563) has landed with a long list of fixes
Karlston posted a news in Software News
Microsoft has released a new Windows 11 build 22000.588 (KB5011563) to Insiders who are flighting the Beta and Release Preview channels. In terms of major feature releases, there's not much to see here. Those are now mainly a part of the Windows 11 Dev Channel. However, there are many other improvements and fixes and the list is long. New! We displayed up to three high priority toast notifications simultaneously. This feature is for apps that send notifications for calls, reminders, or alarms using Windows notifications in the OS. As a result, up to four toast notifications might appear simultaneously–three high priority notifications and one normal priority notification. We fixed an issue that turns off auto-startup for Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps after you upgrade the OS. We fixed an issue that causes SystemSettings.exe to stop working. We fixed an issue that affects searchindexer.exe and prevents Microsoft Outlook’s offline search from returning recent emails. We fixed an issue that increases the startup time for Windows. This issue occurs because a UI thread in a networking API stops responding when a 5G wireless wide area network (WWAN) device is slow to wake up. We fixed a memory leak in the wmipicmp.dll module that causes a lot of false alarms in the System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) datacenter monitoring system. We fixed an issue that incorrectly returns the Execution Policy settings from the registry. We fixed an issue in which modern browsers fail to correctly render HTML that is generated by gpresult/h. We fixed an issue that causes an “Access denied” exception for a file during a PowerShell test for AppLocker. We fixed an issue that causes the Remote Desktop Service (RDS)server to become unstable when the number of signed in users exceeds 100. This prevents you from accessing published applications using RDS on Windows Server 2019. We fixed an issue that returns an error message when you browse for a domain or organizational unit (OU). This issue occurs because of improper zeroing out of memory. We fixed an issue that causes the Group Policy Management Console to stop working after you close it. The system logs Application Error Event ID 1000 and the error, 0xc0000005 (STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION); the failing module is GPOAdmin.dll. We fixed an issue that might cause the Group Policy Service to stop processing telemetry information for Group Policy Registry Preferences. We fixed a stop error (0xD1, DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) in the DirectX kernel component. We fixed an issue that might cause Kerberos.dll to stop working within the Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS). This occurs when LSASS processes simultaneous Service for User (S4U) user-to-user (U2U) requests for the same client user. We fixed an issue that affects the Key Distribution Center (KDC) Proxy. The KDC Proxy cannot properly obtain Kerberos tickets for signing in to Key Trust Windows Hello for Business. We added support for Microsoft Account (MSA) Pass-through scenarios in Azure Active Directory(AAD) Web Account Manager (WAM). We fixed an issue that logs Event ID 37 during certain password change scenarios, including failover cluster name object (CNO) or virtual computer object (VCO) password changes. We fixed an issue that prevents the User Account Control (UAC) dialog from correctly showing the application that is requesting elevated privileges. We fixed an issue that might cause a Microsoft OneDrive file to lose focus after you rename it and press the Enter key. We returned the corresponding Settings page when you search for the word widgets. We fixed an issue that prevents Event 4739 from displaying the new values of certain attributes after a policy change. We fixed an issue that causes the Move-ADObject command to fail when you move computer accounts across domains. The error message is, “Multiple values were specified for an attribute that can have only one value”. We fixed an issue that prevents you from accessing Server Message Block (SMB) shares using an IP Address when SMB hardening is enabled. We fixed an issue that causes stop error 0x1E in the SMB Server (srv2.sys). We fixed an issue that causes a mismatch between NetBIOS and DNS Active Directory domain names when you create a cluster. Skype, once the most popular service for video calls, is no longer Microsoft's favorite child. Still, the company does not plan to stop supporting Skype any time soon. Developers continue working on new features and improvements that become available first in the Skype Insider program. Version 8.84 is now ready for testing before public rollout. Here is a detailed list of all changes and improvements in Skype Insider build 8.84: A new "Leave" button is now available in the meeting lobbies on all platforms. If you mistakenly start a new meeting, you can click 'leave' to cancel the process. Theme consistency in Skype for Web. Skype for Web no longer flashes the display when users join meetings. This change will make the service more comfortable for all users, especially those with high light sensitivity. Improved call controls on Bluetooth and USB headsets. Microsoft also fixed several annoying bugs in Skype: Missing call recordings after a call. To retrieve missing recordings, enter the /getrecordings command. Automatic call answering does not work on Windows when Skype is minimized. Local video preview does not show up on Android during video calls. The Open Chat button is missing on the join meeting lobby UI. Microsoft rolls out Skype Insider updates in "waves", so the latest release might reach your device in a day or two.
